Inauguration Times For Obama and Biden
Live blogging on the day of Obama’s inauguration.
They are running at little bit behind schedule as of 11:30 am EST. MSNBC is reporting that they are 20 minutes behind schedule.
According to the constitution Obama technically becomes the President at exactly noon, regardless of if he is sworn in at that point.
Nick Dagan Best pointed out that Mars was on the MC as all of the former presidents started coming out.
Obama finally came out and was announced at 11:43 am, EST.
Rick Warren’s invocation began at 11:48 am. Invocation ended at 11:53, then Aretha Franklin got up and stage and began singing My Country Tis of Thee a few seconds later. She finished singing at 11:56, then Robert Bennet came out and introduced Supreme Court Justice John Stevens.
Biden starts taking oath at 11:57 am. Finished at 11:58.
Musical performance begins at that point. It starts off as a somewhat a somewhat somber and striking strings performance, and then becomes a bit more upbeat. Its rather beautiful.
Wolf Blitzer announces on CNN during the musical interlude that even though Obama has not yet taken the oath, since it has just passed noon he is now officially the president of the United States.
Musical performance ends at 12:04. The Chief Justice comes out.
Obama starts taking the oath at 12:04. There are a few Mercury retrograde stumbles. (Commentators on CNN later point out that it was Chief Justice Roberts who messed up the oath by rearranging the placement of the word ‘faithfully’, and this rearranging is what caused Obama to stumble since he knew what the oath was supposed to be.)
Obama finishes and becomes the president at like exactly 12:06 pm.
He begins his speech shortly thereafter.
The MC moves into Aquarius at about 11:16, right during his speech, hitting the Mercury-Sun conjunction.
His speech culminated and ended right at 12:26, with Jupiter on the MC, the Moon just about to ingress into Sagittarius, and Neptune at the zenith.
A poet gets up and begins to read a poem. The Moon ingresses into Sagittarius and the MC hits Jupiter exactly about halfway through her poem. Her poem ends at 12:32, and is followed immediately by the benediction.
The benediction ends at 12:37 and the ceremony concludes with the singing of the national anthem.
This concludes and Obama begins to depart at 12:40.
Bush departs on a helicopter at 12:56.

Barack Obama was sworn in as the President of the United States at exactly 12:06 PM.
