More Trouble Heading ACORN’s Way: Mercury Retrograde
Acorns are dropping and ACORN’s dropping this fall. You may remember ACORN as the community organizing group that was accused of voter fraud by John McCain during the last Mercury retrograde in Libra in October 2008. Mercury went retrograde in Libra again on September 7th 2009, and so, ACORN is back in the news with unflattering headlines.
On September 9th 2009, a video was released featuring two conservative activists posing as a pimp and a prostitute, soliciting advice from ACORN on tax evasion and how to set up an underage brothel, which stunningly, ACORN generously gave. Not sure if this is what comes to mind when you think of “community organizing”.
ACORN was founded on June 19th 1970 in Little Rock, Arkansas, time unknown. When the damaging video was released, Mercury had just stationed retrograde on ACORN’s Uranus, indicating a surprising and shocking revelation, message or announcement. Check.
At the same time, ACORN was about to experience a Mars Return in Cancer, reflective of the rough time it was about to enter into, with a public outraged and disgusted by the group, and calls by politicians for investigations into the group, (including President Obama who was once a lawyer for ACORN a long time ago), and the cutting off of funding from the federal and state governments.
More trouble is on the way. Saturn will be making a tough square to ACORN’s Sun in October. And later on in May 2010, the Saturn-Uranus opposition will be locking ACORN’s Gemini Sun into a T-Square. They may be between a rock and a hard place to put it lightly. This acorn has fallen far away from the tree.
Update 9/23/09: I discovered recently that astrologer S.A. Hopkins actually contacted Wade Rathke, the founder of ACORN, to get the precise date and time of ACORN’s founding. Wade Rathke actually obliged and gave him a date and time of “6/18/70 3:00 pm, Little Rock, AR”. Hopkins proceeded to give a delineation, which an interested and astrologically curious Rathke posted on his blog. Interestingly enough, we came to similar conclusions about the near future of ACORN. The inception date is one day earlier than the source I found for the date of ACORN’s inception, but all of my observations remain intact. In fact it makes ACORN’s Mars return even closer to the release of the undercover videos than I originally thought. The time of inception is a crucial piece of information for making more specific determinations about any chart, so this is really great that we have this information. Here is the inception chart of ACORN. Kudos to S.A. Hopkins!
