Herman Cain Announces Run for President
Former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza Herman Cain announced that he is running for the Republican nomination for President in the 2012 elections. His public announcement at an event in Atlanta was regarded as the official announcement, even though he had uploaded an announcement video a few days before. Yet again, new media poses new opportunities and new problems for astrologers. Let’s see what astrology can be mined from his announcement.
When was it?
- May 18th 2011, 4:32:18 pm, Atlanta, Georgia, Cain publishes a video to his YouTube channel entitled “Herman Cain Presidential Announcement Video”. In that video, he very unambiguously states: “Today, I am announcing that I am running for President of the United States of America“. The next morning at 8:42 am he tweeted the following: “Thrilled to learn that we broke pledge goal last night. Now it’s up to 2,500. Check out my video message here” with the link to the announcement video. The next few tweets advertise Herman Cain’s announcement on May 21st as the big event. Notice he does not treat the posting of the video as his official announcement, or the video itself as his official announcement, as did Obama and Gingrich.
- May 21st 2011, 12:39 pm, Atlanta, Georgia, Cain holds a special event at the Centennial Olympic Park for the announcement of his candidacy. At that event, right before he went on the stage to speak, he was introduced by a clip from his announcement video that he had posted three days earlier, starting at the quote “Today, I am announcing that I am running for President of the United States of America“. The video ends, Cain comes on stage and at 12:49 pm, Cain explicitly states in person: “This day, this hour, this moment, I came here to declare my candidacy for the Republican nomination for President of the United States of America“.
The problem here is that on the one hand we have the time that Cain himself considers to be his official announcement, and on the other hand we have the earlier time he published the video to YouTube in which he is just as unequivocal about his decision to run. We have been lucky with other online announcements such as those from Obama and Gingrich, where the video was considered the announcement, and so it was easy to tie the publishing of the video to the symbolically important moment of the announcement. In this case, those two events are separated by a few days.
The Lunar Nodes
Regardless of which one might be the true announcement chart, there is one factor which isn’t affected, and which I think may be connecting all the presidential candidates together. In all of the announced candidates so far, there are notable Nodal transits the candidates are experiencing, or they announced at times when the Nodes were angular. The lunar Nodes are approaching Herman Cain’s Sun at 21 Sagittarius. Herman Cain himself was born less than a week before a lunar eclipse at nearly the opposite degree, 26 Gemini. Interestingly enough, at the time he published his announcement video to the web, the transiting Moon was conjunct his Sun.
Anytime you notice configurations involving the Nodes, look toward eclipses. The upcoming lunar eclipse is happening at 24 Sagittarius on June 15th 2011. A debate for all the Republican presidential candidates is scheduled for June 13th. This makes me think that this debate will properly inaugurate the race for the Republican nomination, and will come to a head at the next lunar eclipse at 18 Gemini on December 10th, 2011 (as well as a foreshadowing event at the full moon at 19 Pisces on September 12th 2011 (the lunation midway between eclipses)). By that time it isn’t hard to imagine that a true frontrunner may emerge, and people will be able to trace the success of that candidate back to the debate that will happen on June 13th. It would be super nice to have birth times though. Speaking of which…
Herman Cain’s Birth Time
I have some very bad news about Herman Cain’s birth time. Not only do we not have his birth time but we may never have any documentation of it. I filed a formal request with the Tennessee Department of Health’s Office of Vital Records for a verification of the birth facts of Herman Cain’s birth certificate, and it appears that the birth time does not appear on it. You can read more about the process that you have to go through to get information about birth certificates here.
