Tim Pawlenty Announces Run for President
Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty threw his hat into the ring for the 2012 elections with a glossy video and a formal campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa. Yet again, astrologers are presented with multiple options for what to consider the true beginning of the campaign. And yet again, the Nodes continue to resurface through the presidential run announcements, connecting the presidential race to an astronomical phenomenon anciently associated with fate of kings and rulers: eclipses.
What time was it?
- On May 22nd, 2011, 2:23:36 pm, in Minneapolis, Minnesota or Des Moines, Iowa, (the Ascendant is virtually unaffected by either location although his campaign is based in Minneapolis), the Pawlenty campaign uploaded a very design-conscious video to YouTube billed as a “preview” of his announcement the next day. Yet, in that video he declares, “I’m Tim Pawlenty, and I’m running for President of the United States“. Interestingly enough, the Nodes are angular at the time of the upload. At 6:42 pm he tweeted the link saying “Tomorrow, we’re going to do things a little differently.” This further suggests that he views his announcement the next day as the real deal, even though the video kind of jumps the gun.
- The next day, on May 23rd, 2011, “shortly before noon” in Des Moines, Iowa, Pawlenty held a rally where he formally declared his candidacy. Unfortunately, I was still in bed when he made the announcement, and none of the major news networks had timestamps accompanying their footage. Even C-SPAN didn’t have a timestamp, which usually is fairly reliable for having a timestamp. No one who was liveblogging the event had times accompanying their updates. There wasn’t even one of Pawlenty’s aides livetweeting about it either. The only source I have for the time comes from a christianpost.com article which reported “[Pawlenty] signaled his intentions on Sunday by posting a YouTube video, but made his formal announcement shortly before noon CDT today in Des Moines, Iowa.” Thanks Christian Post! I’m sure you will find this all very ironic.
There is another thing which complicates his “official” announcement. Pawlenty had been making the rounds on all the early morning news/talk shows openly talking about his candidacy, while his “preview” video had really thrown away the surprise. Still, Pawlenty seems to view it all as the lead-up to his official announcement. We have the same problem here that we had with Herman Cain. He released a video in which he unambiguously declared to run for President, but still considered another announcement to be his official one.
Again with the Nodes
Just like the announcements of Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Gary Johnson, Pawlenty uploaded his first announcement while the Nodes were angular, making the lunar eclipse at 24 Sagittarius on June 15th something to really keep an eye on, especially as there is a Republican presidential debate scheduled 2 days earlier, on June 13th. Furthermore, there are a few interesting transits Pawlenty will be having on the way to the 2012 elections, some that parallel Obama’s. Pawlenty announced when the Sun was square Neptune. Obama was born with Sun square Neptune. For the next 2 years, Pawlenty’s Sun will be squared by Neptune. Pawlenty announced his run when the Sun was at 2 Gemini. Obama’s Moon is at 3 Gemini, opposite Pawlenty’s Sun. For the next 2 years, Obama’s Moon will be squared by Neptune. What’s particularly interesting about this setup is that these points will all be hit by a solar eclipse at 0 Gemini nearly exactly a year from Pawlenty’s announcement on May 20th 2012, by which time the Nodes will be across 5 Sagittarius-Gemini, right on Pawlenty’s Sun. There is a prospective candidate whose natal Nodes are conjunct Pawlenty’s Sun, and this candidate will be announcing himself shortly, the day after a solar eclipse at 11 Gemini on June 1st 2011: Mitt Romney.
Pawlenty’s Birth Time
We have Pawlenty’s birthdate, (November 27th 1960, St. Paul, Minnesota), but we do not know his birth time. Luckily, Pawlenty’s birth time may not be entirely out of reach. With a little effort and a little bit of cash, Pawlenty’s birth time could conceivably be retrieved from his birth certificate, find out more information about obtaining birth times of candidates here.
